Mombasa City, Kenya

Mombasa is Kenya’s historic coastal city, where white-sand beaches, warm Indian Ocean waters and centuries of Swahili heritage come together. From the historic streets of Old Town to the beaches of Nyali, Bamburi and Shanzu, Mombasa offers a mix of culture, relaxation, marine adventures and coastal experiences.

Mombasa gives you the chance to experience Kenya’s coast beyond its beaches. Explore the narrow streets and historic buildings of Mombasa Old Town, visit Fort Jesus, and discover the Swahili, Arab, Indian and European influences that have shaped the city over centuries.

The coastline offers plenty of opportunities to relax and explore. Spend time on Nyali Beach, Bamburi Beach or Shanzu Beach, enjoy a boat trip on the Indian Ocean, or discover marine life at Mombasa Marine National Park and Reserve. You can also combine your coastal stay with excursions to nearby wildlife and cultural attractions.

Mombasa is warm throughout the year, making it an excellent coastal destination in every season. The drier months from June to October and January to February generally offer plenty of sunshine and good conditions for beach activities, sightseeing and excursions.

The March to May long rains and November to December short rains can bring occasional showers. However, temperatures remain warm, and the coast continues to offer plenty of things to see and do.
